Adaptive Paddle Boarding - Meet Big Ron … the newest addition to The Mallorca Sup Company fleet of paddle boards!

Paddle boarding has many physical and mental health benefits, However, for a lot of people, the sport provides many challenges in terms of accessibility. We believe that SUP should be available for everyone to try and for this reason we have been looking for a solution to help people with limited mobility, disabilities, sports injuries and water confidence issues.

In-depth research is also proving that, people with impaired cognitive function and people that display neuronal diversity, show significant signs of improvement when they connect with nature and specifically water.

Ron comes with many benefits.

The board features two independent side chambers. These act in a similar way to bike stabilisers. They increase the already larger deck surface, offering greater stability for larger and less flexible riders. The size of the board, also means that there is the capacity for two adults, so that people with assisted needs can comfortably be on the water with a guide or a helper.

The raised side chambers, used in conjunction with our new super rigid inflatable seat, means that you can now sit on the paddle board in a raised position, making it more comfortable, especially if you have had hip or knee replacement or you are carrying leg injuries or suffering from lower back pain.

Wheelchair users are also able to access the board, due to the removable fin system and dual handles on either side of the board. This means that they are able to sit in the board and be helped in to the water, from the beach.

Finally - we think it’s a great family board! For parents with very young children, it’s safe for use. It means that this can become a fantastic family activity that everyone can participate in!
