M2M CHALLENGE 2026 – MENORCA TO MALLORCA BY PADDLE BOARD

The M2M Challenge 2026 is an extraordinary paddle crossing of the open Mediterranean Sea – from the historic city of Ciutadella on Menorca to the rugged north coast of Mallorca.

Two athletes will tackle a route that demands not only physical strength, but also mental stamina, team spirit, and meticulous preparation.

A unique project that combines a thirst for adventure, the power of nature, and human willpower.

OUR STORY

In October 2023, Hannah and Maik met for a sunrise paddle – a spontaneous morning that would become the start of an extraordinary journey. As they glided across the smooth water and the sun rose over Mallorca, Hannah voiced for the first time an idea she had been harboring for some time: to paddle across the open sea.

From Mallorca to Menorca. Between 45 and 65 kilometers, depending on the route, through the Menorca Canal. A challenge for endurance, courage, and spirit.

HANNAH (TRAMUNTANA) LOUISE LOPEZ

Hannah has been paddleboarding since 2012 and has witnessed many changes in the industry since then. Over the years, she has built a community of like-minded people – both in the United Kingdom and in Puerto Pollensa.

She not only teaches the technique of paddle boarding, but also imparts a whole range of skills: from reading the weather and tides to environmental awareness, and the emotional and physical benefits that come from connecting with nature. Her focus is on strengthening one’s “Blue Mind” – through being in, on, or under the water.

Hannah merges with her board, becomes one with the waves. But this time, the real challenge lies in this merciless test of endurance – a battle of willpower, focus, and mind with every paddle stroke.

MAIK BECKER

Maik is an ultrarunner and author of “Mindfulness for Runners” – someone who understands endurance not only physically, but also mentally. His strength lies in the mindfulness he cultivates over long distances: staying present, perceiving breath and body, accepting the moment, even when it becomes uncomfortable.

Maik is a complete beginner on the water. The sea is unfamiliar to him, unpredictable, and demands a different kind of balance.

His opportunity? To show that true mindfulness carries weight everywhere – even where one’s own feet find no firm ground.
